  • Scrapbook*: News reached town this morning of the death of Mrs. R. W. Cunnyngham at her home four miles southeast of Bolivar. Her death is said to have resulted from measles. She had partially recovered but suffered a relapse, and died at a late hour last night.5
  • Obituary*: Mary Florence, daughter of the late J. R. Callaway and wife of R. W. Cunnyngham, was born in Polk county April 18, 1854, died at her home southeast of Bolivar June 29, 1898. Her parents came to this section from Tennessee in 1839, her father, Rev. Joseph R. Callaway, being the well known pioneer Baptist minister and a noted figure in this country up to the time of his death in 1891. Mary Florence became the wife of R. W. Cunnyngham April 18, 1869. She was the mother of seven children, four daughters and three sons, Gus, Ben, Willie, Etta, wife of Heth Hart, Altha, wife of Alex Farris, and Dicy. She professed religion in her thirteenth year and united with the Baptist Church, and after her marriage joined the Morrisville church, M. E. South. Funeral services were conducted last Thursday at Mt. Gilead by Rev. G. H. Higginbotham.6
