    The Earth lost one of its' brightest stars and Heaven rejoiced to welcome a precious angel when the beautiful spirit of Johnnie Kellis was called home by her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 9, 2002. She embarked on her journey peacefully, surrounded by her family, surrogate daughters and numerous members of her devoted fan club. She was preceded in death by Dick Tunnell, father of her two daughters; sisters Ophelia Kellis, Opal Avara and Bess Hendley; and her brother Jim Kellis. She is survived by [two daughters, a sister, two nieces, two nephews, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild]. Johnnie was born in Canton, Texas on June 22, 1916 and lived in Dallas the last 36 years of her life. She worked for many years at Cokesbury Bookstore, making countless friends throughout that time. Her greatest passions in life were undoubtedly her family and multitude of friends. Her life experience was further fulfilled by her desire and ability to expand her world through travel and her passionate love of dogs, especially Cocker Spaniels. Johnnie will be forever remembered for her incredible zest for life, irrepressible spirit, indomitable sense of humor and her infectious laugh. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2002 at Grace United Methodist Church, 4105 Junius (at Haskell)), Dallas, Tx. Reverend Chuck Cox will officiate. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation for the loving care and compassion that Johnnie received at I.H.S. at Forest and from Hospice (Odyssey Health Care, Inc.) In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Life Enhancement Association for People (L.E.A.P.), P.O.
