Mrs. Fannie Whitsett, 83, resident of Floresville 39 years and widow of the late Sam Whitsett who, with his brother, gave the town of Whitsett in Live Oak County its name, died here tonight and will be buried Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Her husband died in 1901. Mrs. Whitsett is survived by her son E. L. Whitsett of Floresville, and her daughter Mrs. J. H. Bain of Stockdale. Five grandchildren live in San Antonio.
Mrs. Whitsett was born in Fayette County, Tex., 1855, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bird Smith Pullen. Her father died when she was four years of age.
Mrs. Whitsett was a direct descendant of Josiah Bartlett, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. She had been a resident of Texas all her life, having lived only in the counties of Fayette, DeWitt, Atascosa and Wilson.

Recently engaged in farming. Member of Church of Christ in Roswell. Survivors include two daughters, four sons, a brother, a sister, and twelve grandchildren. Talmage Mortuary in charge of arrangements.3
