- Obituary*: "THE TOMB
"Died--In Lafayette county, Mo., July 5th, 1888, Mrs. Docia Young, aged 68 years and 4 months.
"Deceased was born in Bedford county, Virginia, in March 1820, removed to this state and county with her father, Rev. Thomas Callaway. In 1835; was married in May, 1839 to Henderson Young, who was afterward judge of the Circuit count, which position he occupied at the time of his death, in July, 1854. Six children were the offspring of this marriage, all of whom are living and are residents, of this county, except one, Thomas C. Young, now living in Colorado. Deceased was a member of the M.E. Church, South, having joined that church at this place more than fifty years ago. She was noted for her unbounded hospitality and never failing charity. Her house was the gathering place for young and old for miles around. No stranger was ever turned from her door; and the sick and poor all around her had constant reason to bless her helping hand. She died at peace with all the world and firm in the faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord, and in the bright hope of a glorious resurrection through Him. She was laid by the side of her husband in Machpelah cemetery. Joined together again by death which had for so long separated them the earthly remains of these two Christians at last rest together, where they await the day when 'the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible.'
"'And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.4'" - Note*: A brief biography of her husband on his Find A Grave memorial spells her name as Doshea.5
