• Note*: She attended grade school and high school in the Amity, Oregon, area and grew up on the family dairy farm in Hopewell. They lived in the Dayton area, with a brief stint in Tillamook, until taking over the Freshour family farm, in rural Dayton, along the Willamette River, in 1945. She became a partner in the farm life and worked hard to make a success of this family operation. In 1953 she became an Avon sales representative, and in 1955 she became a district manager, taking over a territory that included most of the state of Oregon, excluding Portland; this was her vocation for the next twenty years. She was active in the church, where she played piano, organ, and keyboard. She had a beautiful singing voice. She became an accomplished artist in her later adult life, excelling in oil painting, drawing and crafts. She was a member of the Salem Art Association and the Keizer Art Association and taught art for many years. She was a prolific story writer, poet, and musical composer. The family moved to Salem in 1959 and became Keizer residents in 1962, where she predominately resided for the rest of her life.⁷

They moved to Salem in 1959 and to Keizer, Oregon, in 1964. He was a member of Halbert Memorial Baptist Church in Salem. He loved boating and hunting and built boats as a hobby.²
