    • From his obituary: "He worked many jobs over his career in farming, ranching, in law enforcement and in the oil industry. He started his working life on the Moffett Ranch and then went on to have several other jobs, including a time with the Texas Rangers, the USDA in Texas and in Mexico and as deputy sheriff in Blanco County [Texas]. After a time working in the oil fields around Dilley [Texas], he concluded his career running several ranches in the area. Ted's job that he cared the most about was that of coach, mentor and motivational speaker for the Dilley Wolves football program for several generations of players. He loved to inspire the Wolves on Friday night. Ted also had a passion for hunting and led many a deer and hog hunt for years. He also participated in rodeos as a calf and team roper for many years."16,17,18,19,20,21

At 17, he served in the Navy during World War II, graduated from Texas A&M University [then named The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas] in 1948 and then went to Mexico to work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. . . . In 1962, he answered President Kennedy's call and moved his young family to Bogota, Colombia, as assistant director of the Peace Corps, consequently serving in Honduras, and then Belize as the director. In 1965, they moved to Panama, where he began his work as agricultural development officer with the Agency for International Development, a branch of the U.S. Department of State. He continued this work helping small farmers in Bolivia, El Salvador and Costa Rica. After over 25 years in Latin America, he retired from the State Department in 1987 to live on his farm" in Arkansas.9

He served as Mayor of Dilley (4 terms), President of the Dilley Chamber of Commerce, Dilley Lions Club, Dilley Athletic Boosters, Frio County Livestock Show, Rodeo Announcer, Football Announcer, Lay Leader at Dilley First United Methodist Church. He was the announcer for the Wild Hog Cook-off and Ranch Rodeo in La Salle County for 25 years and a staunch supporter of the Junior Livestock Show."16
