"Fort Leavenworth, Kans.—Paul A. Loop, son of Mr. and Mrs. K. P. Loop, McMinnville, Oregon, attending the Command and General Staff college here, has been promoted to a lieutenant colonel. The colonel who has degrees from Oregon State College and the University of Minnesota entered the Army in 1940 and has had three tours of overseas duty, serving in the Aleutians, Italy and Japan. His wife is with him at Fort Leavenworth."9 - Note*: • He was reared in McMinnville, Oregon and graduated from Oregon State College in 1940.
• He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served three years in artillery and twenty-eight years in engineering, retiring in 1971 as a colonel.
• After retirement, he was employed by a Chicago-based engineering firm, Lester B. Knight & Associates.
• He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, BPOE Lodge 1283, and the Society of American Military Engineers.
