He traveled widely, visiting more than eighty countries, and loved history, laughter, music, playing the piano, and drinking Cokes. He wanted everyone around him to be happy and fulfilled.^7,8

He was the founder of Concrete Construction Company and at one time held the South Carolina Agency for Firestone. He was an avid sportsman. He was a member of Shandon Methodist Church and a former member of the Board of Stewards; a member of the Men’s Club and the Senior Club of Shandon Methodist Church; a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Omar Temple of the Shrine.³
