     Hundreds of Friends at Services Held in Baptist Tabernacle; Interment in Marlow
     An illness of four weeks’ duration brought death to Mrs. M. F. Fortson at her home six miles northeast of Marlow at 1:30 o’clock last Saturday morning.
     Funeral services were held at the Baptist Tabernacle at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. J. C. Acord and assisted by the Rev. S. C. Blackburn. Hundreds of the friends of Mrs. Fortson attended the services. Interment was in the Marlow cemetery.
     The flower girls at the funeral services, who were six granddaughters, were very impressive.
     The pallbearers were [first name, beginning with L, is blurred] Pearson, Charlie Smith, J T. Wright, Roy Hobbs, Arch Eaves and Mr. Blalock.
     Surviving Mrs. Fortson are her husband, M. F. Fortson, three daughters, Miss Ethel Fortson of Marlow; Mrs. F. T. Waggoner of Duncan; Mrs. J. W. Burton of Enid; and four sons, Ben Fortson; Charlie Fortson, and John Fortson, all of Marlow; and G. L. Fortson of Tecumseh, Okla.
     Mrs. Fortson was born in Fayette county, Ga., on February 10, 1861 and passed away July 27, 1929, at the age of 68 years, five months and 17 days. She was a member of the Baptist church. Complication of diseases caused her death."¹¹
