Capt. Edward Trent ('Ned') Bridges

  • Note*: He was educated at Richmond Academy, graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1849, and received a medical degree from the University of Virginia On 29 Jun 1852. He raised a company of men in Franklin County, Virginia that was known as the "Franklin Fire Eaters" and became Company C of the 57th Regiment Infantry of the Virginia Volunteers in the early days of the Civil War. He later raised and served in Company G of the 37th Battalion of the Virginia Cavalry, and his diary of service in the cavalry was published in volume 26 of The Callaway Journal (2001).5,8
