Washington, Ga., April 13 [1905].—(Special.)—Yesterday morning at 7 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Charlie J. Fortson, at her late home at Tignall. Death came after a protracted illness from consumption. Mrs. Fortson before her marriage was Miss Sturgis, of Thompson, where the most of her immediate relatives now reside. She was 47 years of age and is survived by her husband and five children. The funeral services were conducted this morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. W. W. Brinsfield, and the interment occurred in the family burying ground at Pope's chapel.13 - Note*: Her obituary in the Augusta [Ga.] Chronicle says she was 47 years old when she died on 12 Apr 1905, thus putting her birth date in 1857 or 1858; that contradicts the 21 May 1854 birth date in John Boyd's family history and the online records for the cemetery.14,11,3
