"Odessa [Delaware], Oct. 18 [1894].—George W. Naudain, a prominent citizen of Odessa, died suddenly at his home here last evening of heart disease. He was apparently well during the day and was down town talking with friends during the early part of the evening. After going home he was taken ill and died at 11 o’clock.”

Middletown [Delaware], Oct. 18 [1894].—George W. Naudain, a prominent citizen and life-long resident of Odessa, died from lung trouble at his home at that place yesterday afternoon. He will be buried in Drawyers Cemetery near there."4,5 - Note*: He was born on his mother's farm near Fieldsboro, Delaware. He lived for a time with his stepmother after being orphaned at age 9 and then went to live with his half brothers, Elias Naudain and James Nelson Naudain. They moved west, but he remained in Odessa all his life, where he worked as a tailor. He was a captain in the 6th Delaware Infantry in the Civil War.

Ruth Bennett's book states that his "force of character and upright life made him a man of influence in the community where he lived."
