       "Ward Clopton Sends His Mother Flag Made by Himself
       "Mrs. W. W. Clopton has received from her son, Ward, the first Red Cross flag to do duty for the 132d F. A. The flag was made by himself, as he was unable to get one from the Supply Depot, and being required to have one at every infirmary he took one of his towels and made this one. It was used in Redon, France, and then moved up to the front and has seen actual foreign service. The flag can be seen from the window of E. A. John’s drug store."16
  • Note*: His career was in the oil and gas industry in the southwest, primarily in natural gas and gas pipelines. He joined a predecessor of United Gas in 1924 and worked continuously with that company until he retired in July 1954.17

Her husband and a son predeceased her, and she was survived by two sons, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.3
