     "Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Keever chapel in Ennis with Rev. Sidney Roberts, pastor, First Methodist church at Ennis, officiating. Interment will be in the Rice cemetery.
     "Born in Rice Jan. 10, 1889, Sloan had resided there until about 20 years ago at which time he moved to Dallas where he was connected with the Federal Reserve Bank.
     "He was reared in Rice and served in World War I. He was formerly a farmer and an employe of the First State Bank in Rice.
     "The son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Sloan, he married the former Miss Ruby Lewis of Wortham June 24, 1925.
     "He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Rice and Hella Temple Shrine in Dallas. Sloan was also a member of the Haynie Memorial Methodist church at Rice.
     "Surviving, other than his widow, are one daughter, Miss Joan Sloan, Dallas; cousin, Mrs. Bob Banner, Ennis, who was reared in his parents’ home, and other relatives."⁹
